Detailed Step-by-Step Summary: Wastage Reporting

Introduction to Wastage Reporting

  • What It's For: Wastage reporting helps you track and understand food waste in your kitchen.
  • How It Works: You record each wastage event on the device at the point of discard, entering the product name (or scanning a Labl.it prep label), the reason for wastage and an optional photo. The backoffice stores and totals this information, so you can see what's being wasted, why, and where you can reduce it. Wastage can't be recorded in the backoffice; it's for viewing and filtering.

Recording Wastage on the Device

  1. Press Wastage from the main menu.
  2. Find the product by scanning the barcode on its Labl.it prep label, or by typing the name. For a whole returned dish, type the dish name rather than logging each part.
  3. Select a reason. You can also enter a batch code.
  4. Press Next.
  5. Choose how to measure it (only the types switched on in Wastage Settings appear):
    • Volume (containers)
    • Weight (g / kg)
    • Units (containers)
  6. Use the slider to set the amount, then press Next.
  7. Capture an image and/or type a note. Depending on your Wastage Settings, each may be optional, required or switched off.
  8. Press Submit. The entry is saved to the wastage log.
